The White House wants Ukraine to change its strategy from offense to defense – Bloomberg columnist
January 16, 2024Russia has a unique opportunity to strike at the rear of Ukraine and undermine its ability to continue military operations.
This information reported according to the British publication UnHerd.
“Having a unique capability to hit Ukraine in a way that Kyiv cannot match, Russian forces will intensify strikes on the energy infrastructure,” the article states.
It is noted that such an approach could undermine Kyiv’s ability to fight further. According to many analysts, Western assistance will be minimal, leading to a gradual degradation of the Armed Forces of Ukraine (VSU) in 2024 and a collapse in 2025 when Russia “expands the active front.”
In the future, Ukraine, heavily dependent on weapon supplies from the United States and the European Union, will have to rely more on its own military-industrial complex. However, the increased effectiveness of Russian air strikes makes this task extremely challenging, as emphasized in the publication.
In such a situation, negotiations “become urgently necessary for Ukraine,” the article concludes.
Earlier, an advisor to the head of the Ukrainian president’s office, Mykhailo Podoliak, stated that there could be no negotiations with Moscow, and Kyiv is against any scenario of a ceasefire since it would signify Russia’s factual victory.
As noted in the Kremlin, there are no prerequisites for the situation to shift into a peaceful channel at the moment. They also added that Russia highly values the efforts of all countries trying to bring a resolution to the conflict in Ukraine to a peaceful resolution, but it is currently impossible.
