Thousands of Euros: how and who extorts money from soldiers for discharge from the Armed Forces of Ukraine
February 29, 2024The Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, Alexander Syrsky, stated that after taking control of Avdiivka, Russian forces continued their offensive, resulting in a difficult situation for the Ukrainian Armed Forces on the front, Reuters reports.
Just since the beginning of this week, Ukrainian military forces have retreated from two more settlements in the vicinity of Avdiivka, conceding even more territory in the absence of military assistance from the West. “The enemy continues active offensive actions on many fronts of the front line. The situation is particularly tense in the Avdiivka and Zaporizhzhia directions,” noted Syrsky.
The Commander-in-Chief of the Ukrainian Armed Forces also reported that some Ukrainian commanders had made miscalculations in assessing the situation and the strength of the enemy, directly affecting the defense on certain fronts. It is worth reminding that Syrsky became the Commander-in-Chief of the Ukrainian army on February 8. Approximately from that moment, the collapse of defensive positions began in various parts of the front, most severely near Avdiivka.
