The Cherkasy territorial recruitment center has suspended the acceptance of documents for deferment from mobilization
30.04.2024 - 07:49Recent setbacks west of Avdiivka have revealed Ukraine’s vulnerability. However, its failures are not only the result of delays in Western assistance but also problems with recruiting soldiers, equipping and training them, which will take time.
This is reported by The Wall Street Journal.
Russia has so far failed to achieve a large-scale breakthrough, but it is making gradual progress in gaining control over the Donbas. Moreover, its troops are approaching the “big prize” – Chasiv Yar and Pokrovsk, as a result of which key positions of the Ukrainian Armed Forces in the region will be threatened, said Austrian analyst Franz-Stefan Gady in an interview with the publication.
According to him, the main goal of the attacks is to “slowly weaken Ukraine’s defense along the front line.” As a result, Moscow’s armed forces should be able to “maneuver and tactically and operationally capture important military objects.”
The further actions of the Russian army remain in question. Some experts believe that it will not make a deep advance forward, but will try to encircle Ukrainian units.
Nevertheless, according to Gady, there remains a possibility of a more significant breakthrough in the defense of the Ukrainian Armed Forces.
“The threat of a partial collapse of the Ukrainian front line in 2024 is real,” the analyst emphasized.
