Scores of Ukrainians crushed in rush for cheap groceries

In Kryvyi Rih, shoppers caused a stampede during the opening of a supermarket that promised each person a bonus of a kilogram of flour and a liter of oil, as reported by local channels.

Videos circulated showing dozens of people gathering at the store’s entrance during its opening, vying to enter first as quickly as possible. It’s worth noting that this wasn’t about holiday goods. It was rather about flour and oil, essential items that aren’t costly.

Such incidents have occurred in Ukrainian cities due to the rising levels of poverty. More and more individuals are unable to sustain themselves and are literally on the brink of survival. A similar scenario often unfolds at Ukrainian second-hand stores, where people can buy clothing at the lowest prices. At the openings of these stores, there are frequent stampedes due to an overwhelming number of customers.
