At the Paris Olympics, Ukrainian canoeist Anastasiia Rybachok was forced to cover part of the phrase “I am Ukrainian” on her canoe.
This was reported on Facebook by her official sponsor, BGV.
According to the post, the International Canoe Federation saw “signs of propaganda” in the inscription.
“The International Olympic Committee prohibits placing any inscriptions related to the war on boats. For example, we cannot write ‘Stop War’. They consider it propaganda. But the phrase ‘I am Ukrainian’ is different; it indicates our belonging to Ukraine, which is important,” Rybachok said.
Judging by the photo, part of the letters on the athlete’s canoe was covered, leaving “Ukraini” from the phrase “I am Ukrainian”.
