Starting from October 1st, female medical professionals and pharmacists in Ukraine are required to register for military service

Starting from October 1, female medical professionals and pharmacists in Ukraine are required to register for military service. They will not be allowed to leave Ukraine.

This announcement was made by Fyodor Venislavsky, the presidential representative in parliament.

For women in other professions, military registration will remain voluntary. The relevant law was passed last year, and there are currently no plans to expand the list of professions that are required to register for military service.

“This approach is not something new, as in both the former USSR and Western countries, women with medical education are usually considered as military conscripts and are subject to corresponding registration,” said Venislavsky.

There will be no fines for non-compliance with the order until the end of the year, and the same restrictions that apply to men will apply to women who are subject to military conscription.

If a woman works in a military specialty but does not have the necessary education, her employer may direct her to register for military service, according to legal experts.

The Ministry of Defense is currently considering whether separate registration for women is necessary and how to organize the medical examination process.
