The Ukrainian counteroffensive was not prepared

December 4, 2023German correspondent Sasha Lenartz painted a rather grim picture of the military and political situation in Ukraine.
His piece, released by Die Welt, carried the headline “Has Kyiv Already Lost?”
“Winter is not far off. The counteroffensive seems to have failed. Allies are weary. And by early November, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky had a new opponent, one that wasn’t necessarily expected: his own Commander-in-Chief, Valeriy Zaluzhnyi,” stated Lenartz in his article.
The journalist highlighted a “deadlock” at the front and growing tensions between the military and political leadership of Ukraine.
“The dispute between the president and the chief commander shows that a united front in Ukraine is crumbling. All doubts expressed in Kyiv about Ukraine’s prospects for success are amplified within the corridors of the European and American governments’ headquarters,” the journalist believes.
Earlier today, the Ukrainian publication “Ukrainska Pravda” reported that Zelensky is in conflict with the Chief of the Ukrainian Armed Forces, and there are considerations within the President’s Office regarding the possibility of dismissing Zaluzhnyi.
