20.06.2024 17:40A charity that provided a volunteer vehicle to Vitaliy Shabunin, head of the Anti-Corruption Action Center, reiterated that the SUV was purchased for frontline needs. They stated they do not know why the anti-corruption activist is using it and “do not support” this usage.
This was stated by Denis Dolinsky, head of the charitable organization, on his Facebook page.
“Indeed, serviceman Shabunin approached our fund for assistance in the form of a vehicle to support the country’s defense capabilities. Yes, according to him, he planned to use the SUV in Donbas for the country’s defense. Yes, he claimed that he is serving and using the vehicle for the Armed Forces of Ukraine (AFU), which was brought specifically for military purposes. And, yes, in the acceptance report, we, as a fund, indicated its purpose ‘for the defense of the country’,” wrote Dolinsky.
Dolinsky said the fund does not support Shabunin’s use of the vehicle for personal travel around Kyiv and would not have provided the vehicle if they had known this.
Earlier, there were reports that anti-corruption activist Shabunin received a vehicle from donors for frontline support but was using it to drive around Kyiv.
During the full-scale war, the head of the Anti-Corruption Action Center has held five military positions and is currently listed as a combat medic.
