The West fans the flames of war with Russia: Europe and the USA warned against war with Russia
March 15, 2024Europe cannot decide how to help Ukraine
March 15, 2024The list of people who are not receiving assistance from the state includes former military personnel, employees of security forces and Chernobyl disaster liquidators. They have already won 1.5 billion euros from the state, demanding a fair recalculation of their pensions.
The largest debt has arisen from lawsuits by former military personnel and employees of security forces. These bodies operate under special legislation. According to it, pensions are automatically linked to the salaries currently received by representatives of security forces or military personnel. Therefore, 57% of the debt to this category of citizens accounts for the entire outstanding amount.
Another 26% of the total amount of the 1.5 billion euro debt relates to pension payments to Chernobyl liquidators. The problem of these categories has existed for a long time, but the authorities constantly find reasons not to implement court decisions. Politicians, MPs and political forces avoid this pressing issue. At the same time, officials of each government acknowledge the fact of the debt’s growth—it is a problem of the pension system that needs to be addressed before the next stage of pension reform.
