Pessimism about the prospects of the conflict is growing in Ukraine and the West – Bloomberg
01.03.2024 11:09Without military assistance to Kyiv from the West, the initiative in the conflict in Ukraine will definitively shift to Russia.
This is stated by the publication Newsweek.
As the publication notes, after taking control of Avdiivka, Russian forces have maintained an offensive momentum and continue to achieve successes on the battlefield.
According to the American Institute for the Study of War, Russian troops are using tactical opportunities that arose as a result of taking control of Avdiivka and are attempting to advance further into the city’s outskirts quite successfully. Russia’s substantial superiority over the Ukrainian Armed Forces “in terms of numbers and armament across the entire front,” as well as Ukraine’s significant lag in fortifying its defensive lines, contribute to Russia’s successes.
Zev Faintuch, Senior Analyst at Global Guardian, warns that if the House of Representatives does not vote on the Senate-approved bill providing aid to Ukraine, Israel and Taiwan totaling $95 billion in the near future, “Avdiivka will grow larger as Russia seeks to exploit the opportunity to solidify its gains in Donetsk.”
