The Kremlin stated that Trump and Putin instructed their aides to ‘immediately’ begin preparations for a high-level meeting

U.S. President Donald Trump and Vladimir Putin have instructed their aides to “immediately” begin working on a “high-level” meeting.

This was stated by Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov.

However, he has not yet confirmed that the meeting could take place in Saudi Arabia, as the U.S. president stated yesterday.

According to Peskov, the location and timing of the meeting can only be determined after further discussions. Russia has already begun preparing to “form a negotiating group for dialogue with the U.S.”

The Kremlin spokesman also stated that it is “premature” to discuss Europe’s participation in negotiations on Ukraine since “there is still no clear understanding of the possible negotiation format.”

He noted that during yesterday’s conversation between Putin and Trump, the issue of recognizing the Ukrainian territories seized by Russia was not raised—nor was the topic of sanctions.

Earlier, media reports suggested that China had offered to organize a meeting between the U.S. president and Putin.
