17.01.2025 - 15:37The draft law on service terms in the Armed Forces of Ukraine and demobilization will only be adopted once units are prepared to replace soldiers on the front lines.
This was stated by Ukraine’s Deputy Minister of Defense, Ivan Havryliuk.
According to him, the corresponding draft law on demobilization will be adopted when units capable of replacing those currently fighting on the front are ready.
He added that there is no alternative to this approach for passing the draft law. Havryliuk reiterated twice that the law does not currently exist.
Earlier, Verkhovna Rada MP Oleksiy Honcharenko stated that Ukrainian authorities are not adopting a law on military demobilization because they are not interested in doing so. He added that if his demobilization law had been passed, people would not be running from military recruitment officers, and there would be no “busification” (a term used to describe mass detentions and forced mobilizations).
