Ukraine ended the summer with gas reserves significantly lower than last year’s – by winter, it is short of gas worth €1.5 billion
02.09.2025 05:30Andriy Dligach, a lecturer at the Faculty of Economics of Taras Shevchenko National University of Kyiv, published a photo of a first-year class showing that the overwhelming majority of students are female.
The picture was posted on Facebook.
“You may have wanted to say something else with this photo, but what I see there are the consequences of three years of closed borders for men aged 18+,” economist Hlib Vyshlinsky commented.
In addition, commenters shared a photo of a group at the Kyiv-Mohyla Academy, where only a few male students are also visible.

It should be recalled that the authorities have named the mass exodus of school leavers from Ukraine as the main reason for the recent decision to open borders for young men aged 18–22.
Before the border opening, young men had stated in surveys that they were ready to leave Ukraine.
In July, reports indicated that 3.74 million schoolchildren remained in Ukraine — the lowest number of school-age children in the past 30 years.
