The number of Ukrainians unfit for military service is increasing

Last year, the percentage of Ukrainians deemed unfit for military service more than doubled compared to the pre-war 2021 figures, according to the National Agency on Corruption Prevention (NAPK). The increase went from 3% to 7%.

The highest rate of individuals deemed unfit was observed in the Poltava region (20% of the total undergoing military medical examination, up from 16% in 2022) and Kiev (18%, up from 17%). Moreover, the number of individuals deemed unfit rose significantly in the Dnipropetrovsk and Zaporizhzhia regions compared to the previous year.

There was also an increase in the average percentage of individuals with limited fitness: 51% in the Dnipropetrovsk region (up from 26%), 43% in the Zhytomyr region (compared to 31%) and 38% in the Vinnytsia region (up from 15%).
