Poland is considering limiting the “Family 800+” assistance program for Ukrainians
January 23, 2025Oleksiy Arestovych, a former adviser to the Office of the President of Ukraine, stated that “the same partners who prevented us from ending the war in March 2022 are now insisting on its continuation in January 2025.”
He made this comment on his social media in response to statements by “high-ranking British officers” in The Timescriticizing Donald Trump’s plans for a swift end to the war.
Arestovych pointed out that in the spring of 2022, Volodymyr Zelensky agreed with British Prime Minister Boris Johnson’s position that the Istanbul agreements should not be signed, opting instead to continue the war.
“And now let’s look at what we’ve achieved over these three years. Three hundred thousand dead? 30% of the territory lost? Okay, what will we have after another one, two, or three years of war? A million dead? 50% of the territory?” he wrote.ё
“It’s one thing to prevent the war from ending and encourage us to keep fighting; it’s another to provide real help. How can Britain help us? Britain has no money. Britain has no weapons. Britain is experiencing a severe economic, political, and social crisis. So, what does the deal look like? Americans and Europeans provide weapons and money, Ukrainians die, British politicians cheer us on, and Mykhailo Podolyak and others from the Office of the President repeat after them,” the former adviser added.
It is worth noting that in the fall of 2023, David Arakhamia revealed that after another round of negotiations in Istanbul in the spring of 2022, then-British Prime Minister Boris Johnson flew to Kyiv and stated, “We won’t sign anything with them, let’s just keep fighting.”
