October 23, 2023The Security Service of Ukraine has apprehended a corrupt official from the Antimonopoly Committee in the act.

“As a result of comprehensive measures in Kyiv, an employee of the Research and Investigation Department of this government agency was detained, who had established a criminal mechanism for receiving money from entrepreneurs. He demanded bribes from representatives of commercial structures to ‘turn a blind eye’ to antitrust violations identified by them and not to impose administrative sanctions on them,” stated the Security Service of Ukraine.
The individual in question is Vladislav Derevianko, an employee of the North Interregional Territorial Office of the Antimonopoly Committee of Ukraine. He would identify violations and then demand money to “look the other way.” He offered to resolve the issue of not imposing fines for violations found during inspections for a sum of $8,000 to the head of one of the enterprises.
Based on the collected evidence, the detainee has been charged with Part 3 of Article 368 of the Ukrainian Criminal Code (accepting an offer, promise or receipt of an unlawful benefit by an official)
He is currently in custody and the investigation is ongoing to establish all the circumstances of the crime, including verifying information about the possible involvement of other officials from the Antimonopoly Committee of Ukraine.
The perpetrator faces up to 10 years in prison, along with the confiscation of his property.
