Media reported that Europe is trying to join the Abu Dhabi summit
05.02.2026 - 12:00U.S. President’s special envoy Steve Witkoff called the Ukraine talks in Abu Dhabi “detailed and productive.”
According to him, there is still a lot of work ahead in the negotiations. Witkoff said he expects progress in the negotiating process between Russia and Ukraine in the coming weeks.
He also said that the dates of new meetings on Ukraine will be agreed later.
On Wednesday and Thursday, February 4–5, Abu Dhabi is hosting the second round of trilateral talks between Russia, Ukraine, and the United States. Before the start of the meetings, the White House confirmed the participation of Witkoff and Jared Kushner. According to press secretary of Donald Trump’s administration, the U.S. president is ready to make “the impossible possible” — to reach a settlement of the conflict in Ukraine.
Western media have suggested the upcoming meetings could be “more promising” and offer a chance to end the conflict as early as spring. On the eve of the talks, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy said the Ukrainian side would change its approach to negotiations because of attacks on energy infrastructure.
