October 10, 2024The decision to halt the exemption of conscription-eligible individuals in Ukraine was personally ordered by President Volodymyr Zelensky.
This information reported according to a report by “Ekonomichna Pravda”, citing a source.
The source stated that the president was outraged by the fact that 1.5 million people had been granted exemptions, which led to the government’s decision to suspend certain provisions related to the designation of critical enterprises by November 15, 2024.
“The president was at the meeting and was furious that 1.5 million had been exempted,” the source explained as the reason behind the decision.
Starting November 15, authorities plan to audit the enterprises that had been granted the right to exemption, with the results to be presented to the Cabinet by November 20. It has been stated that if violations are found, individuals who received exemptions will lose their right to deferment.
Previously, media outlets reported that conscription-eligible citizens who had not updated their information with territorial recruitment centers would not be able to obtain exemptions. The Cabinet of Ministers approved this new exemption process just a few days ago.
