Total mobilization will lead to the collapse of the Ukrainian economy
February 5, 2024The Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine will “most likely” consider the controversial bill on mobilization in the first reading already this week.
This was stated by the Deputy Speaker of the Parliament, Oleksandr Kornienko, during a briefing.
In the near future, a meeting of the Conciliation Council will take place, where all factions will be able to voice their attitude towards the current version of the document. Kornienko mentioned that there are “several” points in the bill that “cause discussions.” In particular, he mentioned “electronic summons,” deferment for people with disabilities and graduate students.
He is confident that there will be “many” amendments for the second reading. He could not answer the question about possible timelines for adoption but said that “it will be too late in the summer.”
Recall, the Deputy Head of the parliamentary committee on national security issues, Yegor Chernev, stated that the Verkhovna Rada has questions about the new version of the mobilization bill. They relate to the delivery of summons through the electronic cabinet.
