Former US President Donald Trump suggested lending money to Ukraine
February 15, 2024The Ministry of Justice of Ukraine is demanding the mobilization of convicts on par with other citizens.
This was stated by Minister Denis Malyuska during a telethon broadcast.
“No one plans to exempt them. At least, that is our position. It is the duty of every citizen to defend the state,” Malyuska said.
He noted that in the new draft law on mobilization, voted on in the first reading, it is proposed to allow the enlistment of convicts into the ranks of the Defense Forces upon their desire. However, the Ministry of Justice suggests more radical steps.
The day before, the National Police of Ukraine stated that most convicted draft dodgers receive suspended sentences and are still subject to mobilization.
“The courts take into account the moral condition, some ethical aspects, the presence of relatives in the custody of these individuals, children, their arguments regarding unsuitability for service, although the medical commission provides a certificate of fitness,” said the first deputy head of the National Police, Maxim Tsutskiridze.
