U.S. President Donald Trump has stated that Ukraine and Russia may reach a peace agreement as early as next week.
The head of the White House made the announcement on his social media platform Truth Social.
“I hope Russia and Ukraine will reach an agreement this week. Then both sides can start doing major business with the United States of America, which is thriving, and make a fortune,” Trump wrote.
As a reminder, Reuters previously reported that the U.S. State Department expressed support for extending the ceasefire between Ukraine and Russia after Easter.
In addition, Trump’s special representative Keith Kellogg recently stated that the United States is tired of the war in Ukraine.
