The ruling Tuesday by Judge Arthur Engoron in Manhattan resolves the state’s largest case against the former president and narrows a trial that was scheduled to begin as early as Oct. 2, while also making the state’s claim for $250 million in damages feasible.
Trump, who argues that the lawsuit by New York Attorney General Letitia James, a Democrat, is politically motivated and is likely to appeal the decision.
