Two soldiers who shot a policeman in the Vinnytsia region have been informed of suspicion

Two military personnel who killed one police officer and injured another law enforcement officer during an attempted search of a car in the Vinnytsia region on the night of April 20 have been informed of suspicion.

This was reported by the press service of the Office of the Prosecutor General of Ukraine. 

The soldiers are suspected under several articles:

• Assault on the life of a law enforcement officer;
• Illegal handling of weapons;
• Desertion with weapons by prior conspiracy of a group of persons, committed under conditions of martial law.

They face imprisonment from 9 to 15 years. Whether or not they will face pre-trial detention is being decided.

As previously reported, servicemen Valeriy Vasilake and his son Vitaliy Vasilake served in unit A0416, located in Chornomorsk, Odessa region, but left it without permission on the eve of the crime. Valeriy Vasilake took with him a service pistol TT, from which he fired at the police officers.

The National Police of Ukraine stated that the deceased police officer during the night time attack, 20-year-old Maksym Zaretskyi, studied at the National Academy of Internal Affairs and served in the patrol police for one and a half years. He was the only child in the family.
