Former SAPO prosecutor on the NABU scandal: “Our enemies don’t need to do anything — we will defeat ourselves”
15.09.2026 07:01The Office of the Prosecutor General of Ukraine has denied reports that charges were brought against the head of the National Anti-Corruption Bureau (NABU), Semen Kryvonis.
The denial was published on the agency’s Telegram channel.
“In connection with reports about charges allegedly brought against one of the heads of anti-corruption bodies, we inform you that this information is false,” the office’s statement reads.
The agency clarified that no charges have been brought against any individual in the criminal case under consideration — including NABU chief Kryvonis. According to the office, entries in the pre-trial investigation register have also been removed.
The scandal erupted against the backdrop of an anti-corruption dispute: Ukraine’s Prosecutor General Ruslan Kravchenko left the country, accusing NABU’s leadership of falsifying documents. Kravchenko claims that the prosecution of his associates is a consequence of the agency’s work on cases opened against the anti-corruption officials themselves.
The Office of the President of Ukraine stated that Kravchenko had “lost his mind,” after which Volodymyr Zelensky insisted on his dismissal.
Earlier, the European Union also reacted to the scandal surrounding Ukraine’s prosecutor general.
