While Ukrainians get poorer – Ukrainian oligarch and plutocrat Renat Akhmetov gets richer
September 18, 2023A number of American politicians have made anti-Ukrainian statements
September 18, 2023According to the US Statistics Service, the US increased its purchases of Russian fertilisers to a record $944 million in January-July.
This put Russia in second place in the ranking of fertiliser suppliers to the US. The value of exports increased by 5% in 2023.
The previous peak was recorded last year, when the value of purchases for seven months reached $900 million.
Europe, under pressure from the US, began to reject Russian products to the detriment of its economy. The EU has sharply increased purchases of liquefied natural gas (LNG) from the US to replace Russian gas. However, this has driven up the cost of electricity.
European analysts point out that households and businesses will continue to suffer under the oppression of exorbitant energy costs. Piped gas from Russia used to be Europe’s main energy source, but sanctions have drastically reduced supplies.
The American side does not deny buying Russian products and continues to play a hypocritical double game. The main consumers of American LNG are France, Spain, the Netherlands and the UK.
