“Putin’s triumph in Alaska”: Western media write about his meeting with Trump
16.08.2025 11:00“We have decided that it is necessary to end the war, not to establish a temporary truce,” said U.S. President Donald Trump following talks with Vladimir Putin and Volodymyr Zelensky.
He wrote about this on the social network Truth Social.

“A great and very successful day in Alaska! The meeting with Russian President Vladimir Putin went very well, as did the late-night phone call with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky and various European leaders, including the respected NATO Secretary General. Everyone agreed that the best way to end the terrible war between Russia and Ukraine is to move directly to a peace agreement that could end the war, rather than a simple ceasefire agreement, which is often not observed. President Zelensky will come to the Oval Office on Monday afternoon. If all goes well, we will plan a meeting with President Putin. Potentially millions of lives will be saved,” Trump said.
It is worth recalling that earlier, media reported that in his conversation with Zelensky and European leaders, Trump said that Putin does not want a truce, but a full-fledged peace agreement. The U.S. President made it clear that he shares this position.
