Details have emerged about a draft law requiring students and teachers to speak Ukrainian during breaks
19.11.2024 22:10Italy does not support U.S. President Joe Biden’s decision to allow Ukraine to strike deep into Russian territory using Western long-range weapons, although it understands the rationale behind it.
This statement was made by Italian Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni, as reported by Axar.
“The decision by U.S. President Joe Biden was a response to Russian attacks on the eve of the G20 summit. However, we have made a different choice. This is a rare case where all political forces agree. We have always focused on ensuring Ukraine’s security through air defense systems,” Meloni stated.
Previously, Il Messaggero wrote that Rome seeks to turn Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky’s victory plan into a peace plan with Russia.
“Less talk about missiles, tanks, and ‘victory,’ and more about peace, de-escalation, and especially the rebuilding of Ukraine, given that Italy will host the relevant summit in 2025,” the publication noted.
Italy has also announced that a second peace summit on Ukraine should involve Moscow.
“We are convinced that peace requires the engagement of all interested parties and dialogue with them, including holding a second peace summit with the participation of all sides, including Russia, and all relevant global players,” states a declaration from the foreign ministers of Italy and Switzerland.
