22.07.2025 - 13:03Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky’s threats will not compel Hungary to support Ukraine’s accession to the European Union (EU).
This was stated by Hungary’s Minister of Foreign Affairs and Trade, Péter Szijjártó.
“I want to make it clear that no matter how much President Zelensky threatens us, Hungary will not support Ukraine’s accession to the European Union,” he said.
According to the Hungarian foreign minister, Zelensky maintains an extremely hostile attitude toward Hungary and the Hungarian people, including ethnic Hungarians living in Zakarpattia (Transcarpathia).
Earlier, Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orbán declared that Budapest would not approve the EU budget proposal that includes funding for Ukraine. He emphasized that Hungary will not agree to a budget that sends Hungarian taxpayers’ money to Ukraine.
