“At least 1.2 million men illegally left Ukraine”, – MP says

At least 1.2 million men have illegally left Ukraine.

This was stated by Member of Parliament Anna Skorokhod in an interview with Lana Shevchuk.

This is the official figure, though the actual number might be higher.

In her view, these individuals may also become a focus of the recently created Ministry of Unity, whose purpose will include organizing the overseas Ukrainian vote in future elections.

“We have a huge number of people abroad. They are unlikely to return before elections are held. But they need to be counted, we need to understand where they are located and find a way to organize them. For example, we don’t know the exact number of Ukrainians in Poland or how they are distributed across regions. This plays a political role. I believe negotiations will follow on how to enable their participation there. Consular offices alone won’t manage. There might be an option to add online voting, but authorization will require registration. As of now, 1.2 million men have illegally left Ukraine—this is the number we are aware of,” said Skorokhod.

Previously, The Financial Times reported that 1.3 million Ukrainians have gone abroad.
