28.09.2026 06:34Poland’s Deputy Defense Minister Magdalena Sobkówiak-Czarnecka has proposed that Ukraine place a factory for producing missiles for the American Patriot air defense systems on Polish territory — on the condition that Kyiv receives the appropriate license from the United States.
Czarnecka justified her proposal on security grounds: a factory located in Poland would not be exposed to the threat of Russian strikes, unlike production facilities on Ukrainian territory.
The statement by the Polish deputy minister was prompted by Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky’s remarks about a US “final decision” on the transfer of a Patriot missile production license to Kyiv. Washington has not yet confirmed that decision. Donald Trump, for his part, avoided giving a direct answer to the question of whether Ukraine would receive such licenses.
Reuters previously reported that the United States had not provided Ukraine with missiles for the Patriot air defense systems, despite repeated requests from Kyiv.
