August 7, 2024Ukrainians continue to set fire to military vehicles. Another incident of arson occurred in Kyiv.
This was reported by the Kyiv Prosecutor’s Office.
“Pre-trial investigation established that the suspect became acquainted with an unknown person via the Telegram messenger, who offered him money to set fire to vehicles belonging to Ukrainian Armed Forces personnel or bearing the symbols of armed formations. The man was supposed to find a vehicle he planned to set on fire, photograph it and coordinate his actions with the client. After the arson, he was required to send photos and videos as a report of the completed work,” stated the prosecutor’s office.
On July 29, 2024, the suspect arrived in the capital and rented an apartment in the Osokorky neighborhood. At 3 a.m., he left for the courtyard of a nearby house.
There, a Volkswagen Transporter marked with signs of the Ukrainian Armed Forces was parked. The suspect set the vehicle on fire, recorded it on video and then sent the footage to the client. In the morning, he returned to Odesa.
The article’s penalty provides for imprisonment from 5 to 8 years.
The suspect’s involvement in the arson of six vehicles in Dnipro and Odesa is being investigated. The prosecutor’s office released a video of the military vehicle arson in Kyiv by the suspect from Odesa.
Public sources indicate that the suspect is a fitness trainer.
