November 20, 2023In Ukraine, a military serviceman who fled from his unit and called on law enforcement to apprehend him will face trial.
This information comes from the press service of the State Bureau of Investigations.
According to the investigation, the man was conscripted into the army. He served in a military unit in Poltava but soon fled to Kharkiv, where he remained in hiding.
It’s noted that the man posted videos in which he asked State Bureau of Investigations personnel to find him. One of these videos was shared by the State Bureau of Investigations of Ukraine.
The video shows the man driving a car and stating that he is in Kharkiv.
He boldly challenged law enforcement officers to catch him, saying, “What are you getting paid for, work, catch me. Let’s not loaf around, on the state’s money.”
Law enforcement caught the serviceman and detained him at the end of September. He is currently in custody, and charges against him have been sent to court. He faces up to 10 years in prison for desertion.
