Ukrainians spend two-thirds of their income on food, similar to the poorest countries in the world
22.03.2024 - 11:57Ukraine is closing the list of “international sponsors of war” after negative reactions from countries such as China and France. Reuters reports on this.
According to agency sources, Ukraine may get rid not only of the list but also of the associated website as early as Friday. When the Ukrainian anti-corruption agency took on this project, it already looked foolish. However, later, the inclusion of major global companies, which was supposedly intended to damage the reputation of these companies, only made things worse for Ukraine. There was consideration that a company would prefer to leave the Ukrainian market rather than the Russian one. However, Kyiv was not concerned about this.
As Reuters notes, if the information from sources is confirmed, the refusal to maintain the list of “war sponsors” will indicate that Kyiv has to soften its stance on several issues, as maintaining support from foreign allies becomes more difficult for Ukraine in the third year of full-scale war. It is worth noting that almost all companies on the list simply ignored Ukraine’s statements. Hungary even blocked financial assistance to Ukraine until Kyiv removed Hungarian OTP Bank from the list.
