February 16, 2024In Germany, three teenagers have been arrested in connection with the murder of a Ukrainian basketball player.
This was reported by DW, citing local police and prosecutors.
The detainees include a 14-year-old German of Greek origin from Herne, who was with the attacker at the time of the murder but was soon released by the police, as well as two Syrians aged 14 and 15 from Gelsenkirchen, about whom no information was previously available.
All three of them are suspected of complicity in the murder. The main suspect remains a 15-year-old German of Turkish origin, who was arrested the next day.
According to the police, the 15-year-old German schoolboy of Turkish origin who stabbed the Ukrainian had committed numerous crimes and was on the police register in the state of North Rhine-Westphalia. During the attack on the Ukrainians, the criminal also assaulted others who tried to help the Ukrainians. The victims included a 13-year-old girl from Lebanon and a 14-year-old schoolboy from Syria.
