January 19, 2024Russia has added the slogan “Glory to Ukraine” to the list of Nazi symbols.
This information reported by Russian media.
It is noted that the Ministry of Justice of the Russian Federation has compiled a list of “Nazi organizations,” including those that “collaborated with structures condemned by the Nuremberg Tribunal and similar courts” or “deny the findings of the Nuremberg Tribunal.”
The list includes the Ukrainian People’s Revolutionary Army (UNRA), the Ukrainian Insurgent Army (UPA), the Ukrainian People’s Self-Defense (UNS), the Organization of Ukrainian Nationalists (OUN), and their symbolism. Among other things, the greeting “Glory to Ukraine – Glory to the Heroes” and the coat of arms of Ukraine are considered “Nazi symbols.”
It is worth recalling that in September 2023, a scandal erupted in Canada over the invitation of 98-year-old Yaroslav Hunko, a veteran of the “Galicia” division, to speak in parliament. When the Speaker of the Parliament, Anthony Rota, introduced him as a “hero of Ukraine and Canada,” the audience gave him a standing ovation. According to Associated Press photos, Vladimir Zelensky and Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau joined in the applause. Zelensky waved his hand and raised a fist in greeting.
Afterward, a scandal erupted, with the Simon Wiesenthal Center (USA) expressing dissatisfaction with the incident. Subsequently, the Speaker of the House of Commons of Canada offered his apologies.
