The missile that struck the market in Konstantinovka, Donetsk Oblast, yesterday came from the northwest, which means it originated from an area under Ukrainian control.
This was stated by a military observer from the German publication BILD, Julian Röpke.
“Judging by where people were looking (where they heard the sound) before the impact and the likely reflection of the flying projectile in a car, the missile that hit Konstantinovka came from the northwest. I hope this can be established without naming names,” Röpke wrote and published corresponding images.
He mentioned that after this publication, he received negative comments but reaffirmed that he had rechecked the data and arrived at the same conclusions.
I did not want to go into this again, but as some analysts and journalists had to turn into activists again and throw sh*t on my yesterday #NewsMap (and me personally), I worked on the #Kostyantynivka attack again.

It’s worth noting that Russian sources have already used Röpke’s findings as confirmation that the missile was allegedly launched by Ukraine.

Judging from where people look (hearing the sound from) before the impact and a likely reflection of the incoming projectile on a car, the rocket that hit #Kostyantynivka came from the North West.
Hope, its is possible to state that fact without being called names. pic.twitter.com/jy5OVtI6Yc— Julian Röpcke🇺🇦 (@JulianRoepcke) September 6, 2023
However, Röpke pointed out that both sides can program cruise missiles to attack from a certain direction.
“These are purely technical conclusions based on the video posted by President Zelensky. I didn’t speculate about the origin of the object that hit the market and I won’t,” the journalist stated.
As a reminder, Ukraine has stated that the attack on Konstantinovka was carried out by Russians. There has been no official comment from Kiev regarding Röpke’s findings.
Recall that yesterday afternoon, a bustling area in Konstantinovka, located in the Kramatorsk district of Donetsk Oblast, came under shelling. As a result of the strike, 17 people were killed, and 32 others were injured. Twenty shops, power lines, an administrative building and the fifth floor of a residential building were damaged. Several cars and eight commercial premises were also burned to the ground.
