Bribes for leaving the country for conscripted Ukrainians have already risen to 20 thousand dollars
18.06.2024 13:36The attitude towards Ukrainian refugees in Poland is deteriorating. Only 17% of Poles are willing to accept Ukrainian refugees with the possibility of settlement (compared to 37% more than a year ago), while 61% want them to return to Ukraine after the war.
This information comes from Rzeczpospolita, citing a new sociological study.
The negative shift in attitude towards Ukrainians is attributed to the “demanding position” of the refugees, who want to have the same rights as Poles in terms of social benefits and other areas.
Attitudes towards Ukrainians have become more negative in all areas except for school education for Ukrainian children, which 82% of respondents support. However, half of them believe that Ukrainian children should study according to the Polish curriculum, while 40% support a new curriculum agreed upon by Kyiv and Warsaw.
Support for aid to Ukraine is also declining. Only 31% of respondents said that Poland must definitely help Ukraine (down from 62% in January 2023). Another 43% believe that Warsaw should “rather help” Ukraine, while 19% are against providing support.
