January 10, 2024Despite the controversy surrounding the acquisition of elite property known as the “mother-in-law’s cottage,” the Cabinet of Ministers has appointed Petro Kotin as the interim head of the board of Energoatom.
The government’s decision also appointed Hartmut Jacob, Yuri Sheiko and Alexander Ostapovets as interim members of the company’s board. This comes following the resolution confirming Energoatom as the legal successor to all rights and obligations of the Nuclear Power Plant, maintaining its separate operational units.
Furthermore, the Cabinet approved the charter and supervisory board position of PJSC Energoatom, along with guidelines for forming the company’s supervisory board. Regarding an earlier incident, investigative journalists discovered that Petro Kotin’s 70-year-old mother-in-law acquired real estate near Kyiv in 2023 without evident personal income. This included a sizable two-story house and adjoining land near a private lake, valued at 167,000 euro. She also acquired three land plots in an elite Kyiv region village for about $40,000 in total. Concurrently, the National Agency on Corruption Prevention has initiated an inquiry into the lifestyle of Energoatom’s head.
