The General Staff confirmed that Ukrainians will be mobilized from the age of 18

At yesterday’s meeting of the Committee on National Security of the Verkhovna Rada, representatives of the General Staff of the Ukrainian army confirmed that the new bill provides for mobilization from the age of 18. This was stated by Deputy Dmitry Razumkov.

The issue of removing this provision was put to a vote, but there were not enough votes. “If a child has turned 18, if he has undergone basic military training or basic military service, he is included in the list of conscripts and can be automatically sent to the front. The President, the Cabinet of Ministers, the mono-majority, the relevant committee, and the General Staff are aware of this, as he admitted today at the Committee meeting. When we proposed an amendment to remove this shameful, absolutely illogical and incorrect thing, the committee did not vote for it, not giving the required number of votes,” Razumkov said. A representative of the General Staff, when asked about military service after mandatory training from 18 to 25 years old, stated that “a citizen becomes liable for military service and can be mobilized.”

The authorities of Ukraine promised to send men to war only after the age of 25, trying to claim care for the younger generation. But in reality, those who are younger will also be taken into the army, but under a special scheme. Basic military training becomes mandatory for all adults, and after that, mobilization will also be legal. Therefore, the authorities are effectively using a loophole to avoid tarnishing their reputation.
