The head of the Main Intelligence Directorate of the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine, Budanov, confirmed the leak of data on the summer counteroffensive of the Ukrainian Armed Forces

Head of the Main Intelligence Directorate of the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine, Kirill Budanov, confirmed the data leak regarding the Ukrainian counteroffensive last summer.

“We had, let’s say, information, evidence that the plans became known to the Russian Federation. This is a serious problem, and we are taking some measures,” said the head of the GUR of the Ministry of Defense to the Canadian publication CBC.

It is worth noting that before the Ukrainian counteroffensive in June 2023, Russia had been constructing powerful lines of fortifications in the south for several months, as reported by the entire Western press.

At the same time, the plans of the Ukrainian Armed Forces to attack specifically in the south towards Crimea were not concealed by Ukrainian speakers themselves, and they were also widely discussed in the media.

In the same interview, Budanov hinted that Zelensky made the right decision by replacing the chief of staff, Zaluzhny.

“If everything is good, everything is wonderful, and everything is done right, then why are we in the situation we are in?” said the head of military intelligence.
