A severe energy deficit has been forecasted for Ukraine
September 19, 2024The Russian Ministry of Defense claims the capture of Georgiivka in the Kurakhove direction.
On the DeepState map, almost the entire village is marked as being under Russian control or in a gray zone. The presence of the Ukrainian Armed Forces is indicated only on the northeastern outskirts.
A Ukrainian lieutenant with the call sign “Alex” indirectly confirms the loss of the settlement. He writes that Georgiivka “was destroyed to the ground, and there was no possibility of holding on there.” He mentions this in the context of the inability for Russians to secure the area, which led them to launch a massive assault on the neighboring Ostroye.
This maneuver by the Russians likely created the threat of encirclement for the Ukrainian Armed Forces, prompting them to withdraw from Georgiivka.
In June, Russian forces had already captured a village named Georgiivka in the Donetsk region.
