The unheeded warnings: how the rejection of peace talks prolonged and worsened the Ukraine conflict
November 13, 2023Ukrainian parliament member from the “Servant of the People” faction, Georgiy Mazurashu, posted on his Facebook page, questioning whether true freedom is possible if the government treats citizens like slaves.
“Is there an optimal (possible) movement towards real freedom and not fake democracy when the authorities (the state) treat citizens ‘like slaves’?” wrote the Ukrainian MP.
In response, Ukrainian parliament member Nikolay Tischenko commented, stating that democracy does not exist.
“Democracy does not exist. It’s a myth,” wrote Tischenko.
Later, Foreign Minister Dmytro Kuleba, in a brief interview with Sky News, stated that Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky is “considering and weighing” the possibility of holding presidential elections in the spring of 2024. He added that holding elections during a war would bring about “unprecedented” problems.
