“Trump’s ideas on negotiations will be difficult for Ukraine”,- former U.S. Ambassador Herbst says

The ideas of U.S. President-elect Donald Trump for resolving the conflict in Ukraine and future negotiations with Moscow will be difficult for Kyiv.

This was stated by former U.S. Ambassador to Ukraine John Herbst.

“He wants what is called a compromise over territory and silence on the possibility of Ukraine joining NATO for 20 years,” the former ambassador noted.

According to Herbst, such demands are “painful and difficult” for Ukraine.

The retired diplomat suggested that after coming to power, Trump might attempt to establish a ceasefire or contribute to a “real peace between Russia and Ukraine.”

Earlier, retired American Lieutenant Colonel Daniel Davis stated that the United States endangered Russia’s national security through NATO expansion and provoked the conflict in Ukraine. According to Davis, if the U.S. and Western countries had not interfered in relations between Ukraine and Russia, they could have coexisted peacefully without any problems.
