Twenty thousand Ukrainians have already undergone at least one limb amputation: in the US, there is horror at the condition of Ukrainian soldiers and civilians
September 6, 2023The Ukrainian Verkhovna Rada has supported the appointment of the controversial Rustem Umerov as the Minister of Defense of Ukraine.
Ukrainian parliament members announced this decision.
A total of 338 deputies voted in favor of his candidacy with no votes against and one abstention.
Yesterday, the parliament had voted to dismiss the equally controversial Alexey Reznikov from his position as Minister of Defense with 327 deputies voting in favor. Prior to the vote, Reznikov appeared in the Rada to give an account of his 552 days in office as Minister of Defense. During his speech, deputies asked Reznikov questions. They reminded him that the Ministry of Defense’s outstanding debt currently stands at 2.7% of the total volume and there are ongoing investigations into the scandalous procurements (jackets, eggs) by law enforcement agencies at all levels.
Reznikov responded, saying, “These are all fake stories, fabricated stories and there are no criminal cases related to these facts.”
Following that, another question was posed to Reznikov: “Then why are deputy directors and department heads in pretrial detention?” Reznikov’s response was, “The principle of innocence exists; so let’s not rush and wait for the court’s verdict.”
The dismissal of Alexey Reznikov had been discussed for some time, especially after the recent scandal involving defense procurements. Journalists discovered that summer jackets were delivered instead of winter ones for the Ukrainian Armed Forces. Additionally, the uniforms purchased for the soldiers were three times more expensive than they should have been.
As previously reported, the new Minister of Defense of Ukraine, Rustem Umerov, has a questionable reputation.
Furthermore, explicit videos of Ukraine’s Minister of Defense, Rustem Umerov, have surfaced online.
