16.07.2026 06:01Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky, at a meeting with the Servant of the People parliamentary faction, named the reasons for the resignation of Defense Minister Mykhailo Fedorov.
According to People’s Deputy Yaroslav Zheleznyak, who published the information in his Telegram channel, the head of state pointed to the failure of the reform of the territorial recruitment centers (TCC).
In addition, according to Zheleznyak, Zelensky mentioned Fedorov’s disagreements with Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine Oleksandr Syrsky. The president stated that he “cannot choose between Syrsky and Fedorov.”
Fedorov himself confirmed his departure from the post, publishing a farewell address in his Telegram channel. In it, he wrote that it had been a great honor for him to serve the Ukrainian people as defense minister.
Fedorov had held the post of defense minister for about half a year — he was appointed to the position on January 14, 2026.
Zheleznyak also reported that current Interior Minister Ihor Klymenko could become Ukraine’s new defense minister.
