Ukraine has plan if Russia assassinates Zelensky

Ukraine has a plan for power transfer in the event of the death of President Volodymyr Zelensky.

The current head of the Presidential Office, Andriy Yermak, will play a significant role in this plan.

The newspaper claims that there have been “at least 12 assassination attempts” on the Ukrainian president since the start of the Russian invasion.

Formally, in the absence of the president, the speaker of the Verkhovna Rada becomes the head of state. However, Ruslan Stefanchuk “does not have particularly high ratings,” as mentioned in the publication.

Therefore, it is more likely that a “collective government” will lead the country, according to Adrian Karatnycky, a senior fellow at the American organization Atlantic Council.

“The governing body will probably consist of Stefanchuk as a nominal leader, as well as Andriy Yermak, a former film producer and lawyer heading the president’s administration, Minister of Foreign Affairs Dmytro Kuleba, and Minister of Defense Oleksiy Reznikov. Valeriy Zaluzhny will remain the key general of the country,” says Karatnycky.
